Consistency vs Uniqueness - The Podcasting Dilemma
Podcasting is available to everyone, and the content is key to a growing audience. I have mentioned before the need to have unique content, either because of the passion you have for your subject or from a radical viewpoint of your topic. This needs to be balanced with a consistency of content. Your listeners subscribe because they like your subject, like your style…they are gaining value from it. So it is important that you don’t stray into areas that are not the purpose of the show…for instance on The Engaging Brand it is about motivating, inspiring, engaging people at work….a development of your management, leadership skills. I also love football…if I was to start commenting on my beloved Liverpool who are in a takeover bid at the moment, than what value would that give my listeners? My listeners want development…so unless I talk about it in relation to change management and how to manage a takeover it would not provide the content that my listeners are looking for.
Keep a focus on your subject, but provide the uniqueness in the guests, the format, the style…..
