How to come through a down day

by Anna Farmery

Ok, so we have all been there….feeling tired, feeling like giving up, feeling as though you are mentally drained.

So how do you get through

1) Remind yourself of why you podcast, what was your vision? Why are you passionate about the subject?
2) Get out - all around us are ideas, go for walk and watch people, watch how people interact….watch for ideas.
3) Do something totally different - recharge your batteries for a day or two, allow yourself to be tired and know that is your mind saying “Hey there I need a rest matey”
4) Read magazines, books….go into a bookshop and browse - especially areas that you don’t normally look at!
5) Put uplifting music on…and sing, as badly as you want.
6) Join an online group who understand your creative block, search for podcasting on Yahoo groups.

These are my personal ones, but whatever works for you. 3 universal needs for your mind…exercise, good eating, sleep. Make sure that you are looking after your mind, it is your great tool.

Finally, sitting there hoping that creativity will flow rarely succeeds. Doing nothing rarely succeeds. So on a down day….do SOMETHING, get moving, take action.
